Physiotherapy Led Pilates

What Is Physiotherapy Led Pilates?

Physiotherapy Led Pilates is a form of exercise suitable to all levels of patients and athletes.  These classes are run by an experienced and registered physiotherapist. It can improve overall body strength, proprioception, performance, lower back pain and flexibility. It focuses on maintaining a neutral spine, which leads to an improved posture.  As a result, Pilates has been shown to be very beneficial for anyone suffering from spinal fatigue, low grade aches or even acute bouts of pain.

Is A Physiotherapy Led Pilates Class Very Difficult?

Classes can be made as easy or as difficult you require.  There are many progressions of each exercise and an experienced teacher will accommodate all abilities. Pilate’s exercises can be practiced in different positions depending on the patient’s requirements and abilities. For instance,  a desk bound worker may require a gym ball seated exercise, while standing exercises would be utilised for athletes.

Benefits Of Pilates

In today’s fast paced life we spend countless hours sitting in front of our computers or bent over our desks.  Moreover, many people are running around, lifting, lugging and creating havoc in our bodies and minds. Without properly caring for our bodies, it is impossible to feel good. Therefore a lot of our stress and fatigue comes from poor posture imbalances in the body and lack of correct breathing.

Some Health Insurance Cover plans allow patients to claim back some of the cost of attending Pilates when it is run by a Chartered Physiotherapist.  Here at Revive Physiotherapy Mitchelstown, our physiotherapists are CORU and ISCP registered.  We are also affiliated with all major health care providers.  For more information on how to claim from your Health Insurance Provider CLICK HERE.
